Timeless, the fourth studio album by Nigerian singer Davido, was released on March 31, 2023, under the labels Davido Music Worldwide, Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment. The album primarily focuses on the amapiano genre while also exploring other musical styles like afrobeats, dancehall, ragga, konto, highlife, and afropop. With a total of 17 tracks, Timeless includes collaborations with artists such as Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Focalistic, and The Cavemen, among others. The production of the album involved talented producers such as Magicsticks, Ragee, Darmie, Blaisebeatz, 1da Banton, Caltonic SA, and Young Alpha. The album received positive reviews from critics, who praised its production and regarded it as one of Davido’s most accomplished works to date. In support of the album, Davido is set to embark on the Timeless North American Tour in July 2023.
In June 2022, Davido mentioned to Rolling Stone magazine that Timeless was nearing completion. However, in November, he took a hiatus from social media to mourn the loss of his three-year-old son. On March 21, 2023, he announced on Instagram that the album would be released on March 31. Timeless marked Davido’s first album in three years. He explained to CNN that the album’s title, suggested by record producer Don Jazzy, reflects his intention for it to be remembered as a timeless classic for generations to come. He also revealed to the news channel that the album went through three different phases before reaching its final version.
Consisting of 17 tracks, the album features collaborations with Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Focalistic, The Cavemen, Fave, Musa Keys, Dexta Daps, Morravey, and Logos Olori. The production was handled by Magicsticks, Rage, Darmie, Blaisebeatz, 1da Banton, Caltonic SA, Young Alpha, and others. The album’s cover art showcases Davido’s head, two enclosed elephants, and a pathway leading to a large hourglass. In an interview with Hot 97, Davido referred to the album as a “miracle album” and revealed that he recorded a total of 62 tracks for the project.
