The new single by the Venezuelan artist is a tornado of emotion in which the two opposite poles of pop collapse
The singer, producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Arca premiered last week the new and explosive song “Incendio” with which she would begin her stage of “KiCK ii”. However, when looking at the newly released tracklist of what will be his new studio album, it cannot be found, hinting now and as XL Recordings clarifies, that it was not the first single from the album as such. Yes it is, however, “Born Yesterday”, the hit that the Venezuelan living in Barcelona has just premiered in collaboration with the Australian artist Sia.
According to some sources, “Born Yesterday” is a demo that Sia, widely known not only as a singer but as a writer to absolutely all the world’s pop stars, composed for Katy Perry at the time but which she ended up rejecting. Years later, this has served as a clay base that Arca has shaped like a potter with its production, leaving a surprising and stellar final product.
It is not the first time that Arca brings his experimentality to something that sounds more commercial, and we must not go further than some of his recent works such as “Machote” or the remix to “Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. The sentiment of this song comes purely from Sia and her great vocal gush. This is channeled by Arca in his video clip as a lip-sync. The production company, for its part, envelops Sia in a kind of synthetic tornado of crystals and metals that elevate the emotion to a level that could never have been achieved by respecting the laws of radio commerciality.
Talking about what will be the next long project of the Venezuelan “KiCK ii”, he has already announced that it will have its premiere on December 3, it will include 12 songs and artists such as Cardopusher, Boys Noize, Mica Levi, Jenius Level, Wondagurl and Cubeatz. You can see it below, and the new video of the artist at the end of the post.
