The Catalan artist continues to expand her catalog with a danceable and colorful theme, which she tells us about in a short Q&A.
If we like to see something when it comes to national talent, they are artists who get out of the pot and decide to move through different sounds, according to what the body asks of them at all times. This is the case of Berta Garrido, who has been working on a career for more than five years, composing and acting.
In its catalog we can find from hip hop to pop, through the RnB. After 2021 in which she has released two songs, “My Gurlz” and “Te Daba” , and participated in a remix, Berta Garrido gives us the track and video clip of “Flores”.
If this “Flowers” had a color palette, without a doubt we would be facing a rainbow. Both the music by Fast Boo and Berta’s vocal performance have that dance spirit that is even close to funky, and that keeps us hooked from the first second. The video clip shows us Berta at night getting lost with her music in the streets, as well as painting with watercolors. Plans that marry very well with what the music wants to convey.
To learn more about her and the song, Berta Garrido has answered us some brief questions that we leave you below:
HipHopGet: How would you present yourself as an artist to those who do not know you?
Berta Garrido: An emerging artist from Barcelona who makes urban music. But I experiment with all the genres that I allow myself. The goal is always to provoke emotions because that is what art is for me.
HHGet: What story does your latest single “Flores” tell?
BG: This song is a subtle coming out of the closet as a bisexual staff that I am, until today I had not wanted to refer to any of those parts of me. In the video clip or the cover, you can see how the bisexual flag was created by playing with colors.
HHGet: Your music is really varied. What moves you to choose the style you want to do every time you go to record?
BG: Not that I really mean it, each song is born out of the need of the moment. I think that every message I want to convey has an associated gender. Also, obviously, what I listen to at the moment moves me a lot. Now I listen to a lot of electronics, but also dreampop, hyperpop and it influences me in what I do.
HHGet: In order not to be an artist who has the support of a great label behind her, both your music, your aesthetics, and your shows, are really professional and are very careful. Is it very difficult to maintain that level without a great team behind you?
BG: With my team shows I took three years and a lot of work but I’m very grateful to be working with my dancers Aina and Júlia ( @beiblies ) and Anna ( @wenapava) because they are people who trust my art a lot, understand it and listen to it and also, they are my friends. Obviously it took me a lot to get to this point, just like with the videos. At first I had a really hard time finding someone who understood the way I wanted to run things and now that I’ve found Babiangel and Alex it’s amazing. It is difficult to be an independent artist but I find it very cool and very pleasant because I manage to do small things but that gives me a great emotional reward, because I do it with people who love me and that I love and that seems to me the most beautiful in the world . What has been most difficult for me is finding a perfect team for me, understanding how I work and how I want my project to work. It is true that in productions I like to work with many producers and not just one. So I have my trusted producers like FASTBOO or Tony Lenz but I don’t want to close myself to anything in production.
We encourage you to keep an eye on this artist for the next few months, in which we will surely find new and surprising work on her part.
