The Hanon x adidas EQT Race Walk ‘Working Men’s Club’ trainer revives the original Race Walk trainer for a special 30th anniversary release.
In a sometimes confused & saturated “sneaker” world this collaboration from Hanon & adidas reminds us of them big collabs from about 5 years ago that everybody use to talk about. To be fair though, Hanon have always come up with the goods when it comes to collabs and this latest entry with the celebrated EQT line is no different. Reviving the early 90s Equipment Series performance trainer, the Hanon Race x adidas EQT Race Walk ‘Working Men’s Club’ trainer is now introduced for November 2021.
If you grew up in the 90s you will of course remember the EQT (Equipment Series) stuff from adidas. Coming off the back of the celebrated ZX Line, EQT took trainer tech & performance innovation to new levels with its Torsion sole technology & ground-breaking designs. The no fuss ethos of the EQT line was clear. It was strictly about performance & function, built across a range of sports from running to football.
Following the fall of the Berlin wall in the early 90s, the EQT Series became some of the must have trainer styles on the streets of Berlin for its expensive price tag. After its revival back in 2016, the Equipment Series now returns again for 2021 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adidas Equipment Race Walk trainer.
First released in 1991, the Race Walk trainer was designed as a performance trainer for race walk athletes which made its grand return earlier in the month as part of a very special Consortium release. For November 2021, the early 90s walking (not quite running) trainer gets the Working Men’s Club treatment courtesy of the Aberdeen based sneaker store, Hanon. Drawing inspiration from the traditional working men’s club, the Race Walk features a 70s style carpet print to the insoles & colourway inspiration from pool tables to the seating of the smoke-filled function rooms. Featuring suede uppers with corduroy overlays, the Race Walk is finished off with the signature 3 stripes to the sidewalls in the classic solar orange colourway.
