Heartstopper Season 1 Update: Based on the graphic novel series ‘Heartstopper’ by Alice Oseman, the new series of the same title has been a sensational topic among teens. The production of this coming-of-age romance drama started back in January 2021, under director Euros Lyn.
The first episode is set to release on 22nd April, that is, tomorrow. The first season will have around 8 episodes of 30 minutes each. The trailer has crossed 21 lakh views within a week of its release. This LGBTQ+ romantic drama stars Joe Locke as Charlie Spring, and Kit Connor as Nick Nelson.
Now, what is the show about?
The series follows the story of two schoolboys- Nick Nelson, a popular year 11 student, and Charlie Spring, an overthinker, who are one day made to sit next to each other. They soon develop an unlikely friendship and an unparalleled bond. But, as the show progresses, the boys realize that what they have is more than just friendship.
Heartstopper Season 1: Know About The Cast
Oseman says that ‘Heartstopper’ is very close to his heart so deep down, he wanted the casting to be just like he pictured it.
The casting call saw a whopping 10,000 auditions, though it was very hard to select, he is glad that Kit and Joe were finalized. Fans of ‘Rocketman’ will remember how brilliantly Kit portrayed the young Elton John in the biopic. Joe, however, is a novice.
The cast also includes Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Tobie Donovan, and Rhea Norwood.
Why should one watch Heartstopper?
This series will depict the emotionally charged relationship of the teens in a story that will tackle important topics such as mental health, being your authentic self, sticking up to your decisions, coming out, facing your fears, and whatnot! It celebrates love, friendship, and loyalty, and also throws light on Charlie’s mental illness. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make something larger.
